Who Are You, You Who Live Here?

Liisa takes us through the history of the Norwegian colonisation of the Sami ethnic group. She will analyse, for example, how the Enlightenment and intellectuals working in European universities participated in justifying the oppression of the indigenous peoples of Scandinavia. It will also critically reflect on the way in which the Norwegian state tries to deal with this problematic past today. She asks, “Why are you forcing people to forgive?”
